Approve Design Development Phase for Renovation at
Gaither High School

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

On October 20, 2009, the Board appointed the architectural firm of Schenkel & Shultz Incorporated to provide design services. On July 27, 2010, the Board appointed the construction management firm of Batson-Cook Company. The renovation of existing facilities includes the addition of a new fire sprinkler system; replacement of the roof on areas not recently renovated; new ceilings and wall finishes; replacement of the heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC) system with a new energy efficient system; group toilet room renovations; and miscellaneous plumbing, life safety, egress, and handicap accessibility modifications. Project completion is scheduled for January 2013.

Approval of the design development phase will allow the architect to proceed with the construction documents.

FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted: Yes)

The project is currently funded at $17,800,000. The estimate of probable cost is $17,750,491. This item is included in the District Capital Outlay: Certificates of Participation Series (CoPS) 2006 and Local Millage.
