Approve Contract Renewal #LK920 with the State of Florida, Department of Children and Families (Student Services and Federal Programs Division)

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The original three-year cost reimbursement Contract Renewal (October 1, 2009 through September 30, 2012) provides child care services for refugee families resettling in Hillsborough County. Refugee clients are referred for service by local resettlement agencies under contract to the Department of Children and Families. Contract Renewal #LK920 provides a total of $4,760,000 over a three-year period, with $1,540,000 allocated for the second year, effective October 1, 2010 through September 30, 2011. Please note that page 7, referenced on page 1 of Amendment #004, not included in the renewal contract, is the original contract signature page dated September 2007, and is being amended not replaced.

Contract Renewal #LK920 provides funding in the total amount of $4,760,000, to be allocated over a three-year period. During this second year, $1,454,038 is to be used for direct child care services for approximately 363 children at the average annual rate of $4,000 per child. A total of $85,962 covers the cost of program implementation. These funds are channeled to the District through the Department of Children and Families, Florida Office of Refugee Services.

EVALUATION

This contract and any amendments and/or renewals made a part, thereof, are audited by the Department of Children and Families, Florida Office of Refugee Services during the performance of said contract. Funding for the Florida Office of Refugee Services is provided by federal dollars, which flow to the Early Childhood School Readiness Programs to purchase child care in Hillsborough County for refugee children. There is no district-generated revenue used for this purchase.
