EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
In order to implement our new teacher evaluation system it was essential to implement a comprehensive training program for all evaluators and observers. Beginning in June, six hundred eighty-six peer evaluators, mentor evaluators, and administrators participated in training sessions. Participants engaged in 40-50 hours of training that included actual classroom observations and a one on one coached session. Administrators, peer evaluators, and mentors are required to conduct an entire formal observation cycle (pre-conference, observation, and post conference) and must be rated "Accomplished" by a Cambridge Education trainer before being allowed to formally observe and evaluate teachers.
Improved technology will also play an important role in the observation and evaluation process. The initial phase of the Lawson Talent Management software package was launched on September 1 allowing observers to schedule appointments, collect pre-conference forms, and upload observation data. Lawson Talent Management provides not only a streamlined automated process but also an electronic repository for all formal and informal observations for both evaluators and teachers. The system will also provide a workspace for all evaluations.
