To support implementation of computer-based high stakes testing, the District is converting one or two classrooms at each school to a High Stakes Testing Lab. Modification of electrical, data, and heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems associated with each lab is needed to support the classroom conversion. Staff has planned to accomplish the work in three phases, with the work in each phase divided into two projects. This project accomplishes a portion of the lab installations included in the second phase.

Woodroffe Corporation Architects and Walbridge Aldinger Company were selected from the approved Continuing Services Consultants list to provide design and construction management services for one of the Phase 2 projects. The scope of work provides for the electrical, data, and heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems modifications required to support installation of the labs at multiple school sites in administrative areas 1 and 2, and completes the requirement in those areas. (Included sites are identified in the attachment.) Project completion is scheduled for November 5, 2010.

Approval of the guaranteed maximum price will establish the cost for the project.

Construction cost is warranted at $1,430,662 with funding provided by ARRA (American Recovery and Reinvestment Act). The construction budget is $1,431,000.
