EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The Board approved the creation of 4 energy mentor positions on August 22, 2006 to assist the district energy conservation manager and work in the field with schools to achieve the district’s energy goals. Since that date, the mentor program has expanded the district’s energy conservation efforts tremendously. Through their efforts, the district’s consumption per square foot was significantly reduced from an historical maximum of 14.1 kWh/sqft in SY05-06 to 13.3 kWh/sqft for SY09-10. This reduction represents over $10 million in savings or avoided costs.
As the 10% reduction in kWh/sqft has been achieved, it is recognized that future reductions, while our goal, will be more modest and more difficult to achieve and the maintenance of past achievements will be vital. In order to maintain momentum, provide departmental stability, and retain these valuable employees, the following performance incentives are proposed:
Reduction of 1% total kWh (of assigned sites) = $500 incentive
Reduction of 2% total kWh (of assigned sites) = $750 incentive
Reduction of 3% total kWh (of assigned sites) = $1,000 incentive
Reduction of 4% total kWh (of assigned sites) = $1,250 incentive
Reduction of 5% total kWh (of assigned sites) = $1,500 incentive (maximum incentive)
No incentive shall be paid for less than 1% reduction.
ANNUAL DISTRICT GOAL(S) AND CRITICAL SUCCESS FACTOR(S)
