EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The FJGC awarded $20,000 to HCPS for the implementation of the First Tee Golf Program in ten Title 1 elementary schools. The First Tee Golf Program is a developmentally appropriate program that integrates the instruction of golf skills with core subject content and life skill components. The purpose of the grant is to provide physical education teachers from ten Title 1 schools with a three hour online training component prior to receiving the Students New At Golf (SNAG) equipment for their schools. The training will begin in late November 2010, and implementation of the program will conclude by June 2011. Grant funds will enable ten additional sites to be added to the already existing 42 sites in the district that are implementing the First Tee Program. This program supports and is in alignment with the Franklin Golf Academy at Franklin Middle School.

The ten Title I elementary schools that will participate in this grant are as follows: Alexander, Frost, Just, Kenly, Lincoln, Miles, Pizzo, Potter, Ruskin, and Shaw.
