SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS

Approve Construction Documents and Guaranteed Maximum Price for Classrooms for Kids Additions at
Freedom High School and Liberty Middle School

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

On November 9, 2006, the Board appointed Carruthers & Associates Architects P.A. and Batson-Cook Company to provide design and construction management services. The scope of work provides for the following additions: 24 classrooms at Freedom High School and 12 classrooms at Liberty Middle School. These additions are necessary to meet class size reduction requirements. Project completion is scheduled as follows: July 18, 2008 for Freedom and June 27, 2008 for Liberty.

Approval of the guaranteed maximum price will establish the cost for each facility, and provide for an increase in the construction manager's fee associated with extraordinary conditions.
