Annual Employee Benefits Open Enrollment for 2008.
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The Annual Employee Benefits Open Enrollment for 2008 begins tomorrow, September 19, 2007 and ends Monday, October 15, 2007. The 2008 InfoQuick Guides, the booklets that identify and explain the available employee benefits, are being distributed to active employees via school mail and to employees on leaves of absence via U.S. mail. In addition, an Open Enrollment video describing the benefits is posted on the School District’s website. Each benefits-eligible employee may choose one of four methods for electing benefits:
- Schedule a meeting at the work site to talk to an enrollment counselor.
- Call the Aon Call Center to have the elections entered.
- Go to the web site at www.sdhc.selfservicenow.com to enter elections online.
- Attend one of the three Open Enrollment Meetings with Health Fairs to get all benefits questions answered and have elections entered at Bloomingdale, Chamberlain, or Armwood High Schools on October 3, October 6, and October 11, respectively.
In addition to the medical, dental, life and disability plans, there are three benefit plans new to Open Enrollment this year - Unum's Individual Cancer, HIP/Accident, and Whole Life with Long Term Care insurances. The Univers enrollers can discuss the details of these policies with employees as well as enter their elections for them. This year, Humana has enhanced the CoverageFirst Plan for HCPS employees: 1) lowest premiums of the medical plans offered (except for the High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP) and 2) no in-network coinsurance. This means that employees pay only copays and, if applicable, the deductible for in-network charges. Employees are encouraged to read all the materials regarding CoverageFirst. For some of them, changing from the HMO to CoverageFirst could provide considerable savings. The materials and meetings listed above are provided to help employees elect the benefits most suited to their circumstances.
