SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS
Approve Cooperative Agreement with the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Educational services are provided to students in various juvenile justice programs located throughout the school district. Florida law (F.S. 1003.52) requires this agreement. It outlines the various roles and responsibilities of the School Board and the Department of Juvenile Justice and is designed to facilitate the effective and efficient delivery of services for children and youth served in Department of Juvenile Justice settings.
ANNUAL DISTRICT GOAL(S) AND CRITICAL SUCCESS FACTOR(S)
All district goals, with the exception of Goal 6 – All schools in the district will be assigned a state grade of A, B, or C. Educational programs serving students under the supervision of the Department of Juvenile Justice are not assigned grades by the state.
FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted: Yes)
This agreement ensures that students receiving educational services in juvenile justice programs will receive extended year and exceptional student education (ESE) funding under the Florida Education Finance Program. The programs will be financed by FTE funds, which amount to approximately $1,159,840. This item is included in the Part 1 budget for 2007-2008.
EVALUATION
Each juvenile justice education program is evaluated annually through a quality assurance review conducted by the Juvenile Justice Educational Enhancement Program (JJEEP). These reviews will be completed by June 30, 2008.
