EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The Darrell Gwynn Foundation is a 501C.3 organization whose goal is the prevention and cure of spinal cord injuries with special emphasis on educational programs targeting high school students. Last year, Darrell Gwynn Foundation speakers visited three schools. In 2007/2008, speakers will present spinal cord injury awareness training to the Health Science and Drivers Education students at eight high schools: Alonso, Armwood, Bloomingdale, Brandon, Gaither, Middleton, Tampa Bay Technical, and Wharton High Schools. Schools were selected based on the current program offerings in health science and driver education.
Designating November 12-18, 2007, Spinal Cord Injury Awareness Week will increase awareness of the causes of spinal cord injury and which may reduce the number of individuals that are paralyzed each year in Florida.
