Approval of Reciprocal Agreement for the Use of Facilities
for the Benefit of the Bob Sierra Family YMCA for
Gaither High School

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The Assistant Principal for Administration of Gaither High School has been working with the Bob Sierra YMCA for use of their aquatics area, fitness center, multi-purpose room and gymnasium. In exchange, the YMCA would have use of Gaither's track and practice football field for their Saturday Youth Flag Football League and the track on Thursday evenings for their Running Club. The YMCA's usage of these fields will not conflict with Gaither's home games. The availabilities for the track and field will be provided to the YMCA by the school principal. In return, Gaither's Severe and Profound Mentally Handicap Program ("SPMH") will have the use of the YMCA's facilities, with lifeguard services provided, for exercise, physical therapy and socialization for three hours a day, one to two days per week. The students will be supervised by the Gaither SPMH teachers and attendants.

This agreement has been approved by the School Board Attorney as to form and sufficiency.

Provide adequate school facilities for the accomplishment of all District Goals and Critical Success Factors.

FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted: No)

There will be no cost to the District for the use of the YMCA's aquatics area and facilities. Fees in the amount of $4,800 for the YMCA's use of Gaither High School's track and practice fields have been waived. In exchange, the $7,350 fee for the District's use of the YMCA facilities has also been waived.
