Evaluation of the Contract with Easter Seals Florida, Inc. for Teen Parent Child Care Services (Student Services and Federal Programs Division)

The contract with Easter Seals Florida, Inc. was approved by the School Board on July 11, 2006, Agenda Item 5.06, Section E. By virtue of the contract, Easter Seals Florida, Inc. delivered child care services for student participants in the Teen Parent Programs at Burney Simmons Career Center and D.W. Waters Career Center by staffing and maintaining a child care facility at each site. The contract provided services for the period of August 1, 2006, through June 30, 2007. A desk review was conducted by Early Childhood School Readiness Programs to evaluate the child care services for teen parents administered by Easter Seals Florida, Inc. Because findings show compliance with the contract requirements, performance is considered satisfactory. A copy of the desk review and provider’s responses are attached.

Goal 5 – The District will eliminate the FCAT achievement gap by a minimum of 10 percentage points as reported by No Child Left Behind.

A total of $202,618.84 was paid to Easter Seals Florida, Inc. for child care services provided at Burney Simmons Career Center and D.W. Waters Career Center during the term of the contract. Payments were made monthly and based on student attendance and the daily Gold Seal rate. The average annual cost per child at a Gold Seal accredited facility is $4,830. The funding is provided by the Florida Department of Education. No District funds were a part of this contract.
