Appointment of Architect and Construction Manager for
Elementary School "M" (Temple Heights), New Facility

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Proposals for architectural and construction management services were accepted on December 11, 2007, for design and construction of a new elementary school at the former location of Temple Heights Christian School and Church, located at 8406 North 46th Street, Tampa, Florida. As of the date of this agenda item, this school will relieve Pizzo, Witter, and Shaw Elementary Schools.

A Public Announcement was issued and a tabulation made of the firms that responded to the legal advertisement. The Professional Services Selection Committee convened the week of December 10 to review submittals and develop a short-list. Prospective providers were evaluated in accordance with the "Consultant's Competitive Negotiation Act," "State Requirements for Education Facilities," and School Board policy. On December 17, the Committee reviewed the short-listed applicants using a rubric and authorized staff to proceed with fee negotiations with the top-ranked firms. Negotiations are complete and Board approval is required for formal appointment of the following firms:

  • The Architectural Practice for a fixed fee of $480,000 and Batson-Cook Construction for a fixed fee of $461,539.
