Approve the Administrative Appointment of Department Manager for Teacher Incentive Fund (TIF) Grant - Human Resources Division.
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The "department manager" is a new position made available through the TIF grant. The TIF Grant is a competitive grant that our school district received this year, and covers a five-year period (2007-2012). The goals of the grant include:
- Provide teachers and principals in high need schools differentiated levels of compenstaion based on student achievement.
- Improve student achievement by increasing teacher and principal effectiveness.
- Create a model for a sustainable performance-based system.
- Include financial support for a project director for the five-year period.

FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted: Yes)
The department manager salary is budgeted through TIF grant funds. The "total" TIF grant award is $15,402,538.
