Florida State Statute 1012.98 (4)(b)(4) mandates that all districts have a Master In-service Plan for in-service activities and requires this plan to be approved by the local School Board every five years. In addition, an annual update must be submitted to the State Board of Education and written verification must be submitted annually to the Commissioner. This agenda item requests approval for the Director of Staff Development to submit the required update and verification.

On August 10, 2004, the Hillsborough County School Board approved our district Master In-service Plan for years 2004-2009. (A copy of the approval is attached.)

On April 24, 2007, the Hillsborough County School Board approved the Addition of Components to the Master Plan for In-service Education. (A copy of the approval is attached.)

District Goal 3: Critical Success Factor 2 - Recruit and retain highly qualified teachers and provide an ongoing mentoring program. Critical Success Factor 3 - Align professional development with teacher needs as reflected by student achievement data.

The cost of these courses will be covered by the Staff Development budget.

Course evaluations are completed at the conclusion of each training. The results of the evaluations will be captured through the Professional Development System. Feedback from facilitators is used to continuously revise and update the course content.
