Recognition of Visit Your Child In School Day (Student Services and Federal Programs Division)

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The National Council of Negro Women, Inc. will recognize the schools with exemplary parent involvement and participation in the annual Visit Your Child In School Day, held on February 13, 2006. This organization awards five plaques to the schools that have the highest percentage of parents visiting the schools based on enrollment. The Visit Your Child In School Day is an incentive to successfully involve families, schools, and communities to support student achievement. The plaques will be awarded to the following schools for the 2006-2007 school year: Thonotosassa Elementary School, Tampa Palms Elementary School, Adams Middle School, Young Middle Magnet School and Simmons Career Center.

FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted: Yes)

Funding for this recognition program is from the National Council of Negro Women, Inc., who conducts local fundraisers. The district provides support for notifying the schools and collecting data as a part of the Full Service Schools initiative.
