On November 9, 2006, the Board appointed Howard and Associates Architects, P.A. and Vogel Bros. Building Co. to provide design and construction management services. The scope of work provides for the following additions: 12 classrooms at Mulrennan Middle School and 16 classrooms at Nelson Elementary School. These additions are necessary to meet class size reduction requirements. Completion of each project is scheduled for August 4, 2008.

Approval of the guaranteed maximum price will establish the cost for each facility.

Construction cost for Mulrennan Middle School is warranted at $1,984,427, which includes $149,027 for extraordinary conditions (underground storm water piping demo and relocation, HVAC upgrade, and gang restrooms). The construction budget is $1,984,427. Construction cost for Nelson Elementary School is warranted at $2,536,595, which includes $227,033 for extraordinary conditions (extended concrete walkway, shelter requirements, playcourt relocation).
