Approval of Design Development Documents for Renovation at
Apollo Beach Elementary School

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

On February 13, 2007, the Board appointed John J. McKenna Architect P.A. and The Morganti Group, Inc. to provide design and construction management services. Planned interior work includes accessibility improvements to comply with Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements; upgrades to lighting, the fire alarm system, and signage to meet current standards; general painting and ceiling replacement throughout the campus; the addition of fire sprinklers for Building 1; and replacement of marker boards and cabinets where needed. Exterior work includes roof repairs, and ingress and egress improvements. Project completion is scheduled for December 2008.

Approval of the design development documents will allow the architect to proceed with construction documents.

Provide adequate school facilities for the accomplishment of all District Goals and Critical Success Factors.

FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted: Yes)

The project is currently funded at $4,380,000. The estimate of probable cost is $4,350,000. This item is included in the District Capital Outlay: Public Education Capital Outlay (PECO) Construction 06-07.
