Approve Career Pathways/Tech Prep Articulation Agreements with The Art Institute of Tampa for Secondary Career and Technical Programs, Various (Career and Technical Education)

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

We request approval of four articulation agreements with The Art Institute of Tampa to allow high school students to be awarded college credit for a completed Career Pathways/Tech Prep program of study. For the past sixteen years, the School District has worked collaboratively with numerous postsecondary institutions in implementing Tech Prep Programs of Study. One major component has been the establishment of articulation agreements allowing district secondary students the opportunity to enter degree-seeking programs at an advanced status.

The following articulation agreements for secondary students are submitted for approval as follows:

Web Design - allows students to earn three (3) credits that apply toward the following Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degrees:

BFA Web Design and Interactive Media
BFA Graphic Design Program
BFA Game Art and Design Program
BFA Fashion and retail Management Program
BFA Advertising
BFA Media Arts and Animation

Culinary ProStart - allows students to earn up to twelve (12) credits that apply toward the following degrees/diploma:
AA Culinary Arts Program
Baking and Pastry Diploma
BA Culinary Management Program
BA Food and Beverage Management Program
BA Wine, Spirits, and Beverage Management Program
Academy of Fashion Marketing and Fashion Design Services - allows students to earn up to seven (7) credits toward the following degree:
BFA Fashion Retailing and Marketing
Commercial Art - allows students to earn up to seven (7) credits that apply toward the following degrees:
BFA Graphic Design
BFA Web Design and Interactive Media

All district Career Pathways/Tech Prep programs are FTE-earning and are included in the general operating budget.
