Approve the Naming and Dedication of the Springhead Elementary School Media Center

The Springhead Elementary School parents, students and faculty have requested that the media center be named the Sandra E. Black Media Center in honor of Sandra Black, Principal of Springhead Elementary School.

Mrs. Black began her employment with Hillsborough County Public Schools on September 21, 1970. She was a teacher at Springhead Elementary School, guidance counselor at Jackson Elementary School and Assistant Principal for Elementary Instruction at Springhead Elementary School. On January 10, 1996, she was appointed Principal for Springhead Elementary School and is retiring from the school system on February 29, 2008 with 38 years of dedication to the students of Hillsborough County Public Schools. She has influenced and enriched the lives of many students and families in the Springhead community and is admired and respected for her dynamic leadership, her innovative approach to student learning, her talent to inspire and motivate others and her ability to hire the best, expect the most and get the desired results.

Other: This in accordance with Policy 8.27 (Procedure Summary) which governs that school sites and facilities shall be named for individuals who have rendered outstanding public service education, for geographical locations and for groups and clubs as indicated. Elementary, middle and Secondary schools - for presidents, school board members, educators, outstanding citizens and geographical locations.

There is no cost to the school district for the naming of the media center.
