Approve Agreement to Provide School Bus Driver Training Services for Walton Academy for Their Employees Transporting Students

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The District has a proven school bus driver training program and is capable of providing required driver training services for charter school buses when applicable and feasible. Part of the training program includes State Certified Commercial Driver License testing by Transportation employees. Walton Academy will reimburse the District to train at least two bus drivers - one regular driver, and one back-up driver at a cost of $585.00 per driver. These group class trainings are offered to Charter School employees on a space available basis. A request is being made to commence this contract effective April 16, 2008. If either party does not agree on terms of this contract, they may cancel the contract within 15 days.

FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted: No)

The charter school will pay for all costs incurred to train their bus driver, including but not limited to, manuals, testing, trainer salaries, and fuel. The cost for bus driver training class is $585 per student. Annual Recertification, Reflex Testing, and DOE compliance testing will cost $255.
