On February 13, 2007, the Board appointed Rowe Architects, Inc. and J.B.D. Construction, Inc. to provide design and construction management services. The renovation of existing facilities includes roof and plaster wall repairs; exterior brick repointing, restoration, and sealing; interior painting; upgrades to emergency lighting, telephone, voice/data, closed circuit television (CCTV), and security systems; replacement of the fire alarm system and instructional aids; removal of carpet and refinishing of existing hardwood floors; handicap accessibility upgrades to door hardware, thresholds, and building entries; and the addition of a fire sprinkler system and new parent drop-off. The project scope has been increased since Design Development to add the fire sprinklers and brick repair and sealing. Project completion date is scheduled for December 15, 2008.

Approval of the guaranteed maximum price will establish the cost for the project.

Construction cost is warranted at $2,151,930, which includes an increased fee associated with the scope added since the Design Development phase, and a reduction in general conditions costs resulting from a shorter than anticipated project duration. The construction budget is $2,152,000. This item is included in the District Capital Outlay: 2 Mill.
