Approve the Addition of Components to the Master Plan for Inservice Education

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Florida Statue Section 1012.98 requires that each district school board shall develop and maintain an inservice educational training program. Descriptions of training programs offered for inservice credit are incorporated into the Master Plan for Inservice Education. The revision of the Master Plan for Inservice Education is approved annually by the School Board and Florida Department of Education. During the year specific training needs arise that require new courses to be developed and added to the Master Plan.

ANNUAL DISTRICT GOAL(S) AND CRITICAL SUCCESS FACTOR(S)

District Goal 3: Critical Success Factor 2 - Recruit and retain highly qualified teachers and provide an ongoing mentoring program. Critical Success Factor 3 - align professional development with teacher needs as reflected by student achievement data.

FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted: Yes)

The cost of these courses will be covered from various budget sources; Title I, Title II funds, Transition to Teaching, and other programs like Alternative Certification Program as well as Part I of the budget.

EVALUATION

Required Department of Education evaluations are completed at the conclusion of each training and reported to the State by June 30, 2008. The results of the evaluation will be captured through the Professional Development System.
