Approve Amendment Number 2 to Contract #LC814 with the Florida Department of Children and Families for Childcare Training, Learey Technical Center, 2008/2009 (Adult Technical Education)

We request approval of Amendment Number 2 of Contract LC814 with the Florida Department of Children and Families which reduces the contract amount by $125,769.96 to better reflect administrative activities associated with childcare training offered by Learey Technical Center for private childcare workers in Hillsborough and Pasco Counties. The amendment also stipulates that the district will begin 100 percent retention of collections from online training courses to supplement the contracted funds. Projected collections should be $209,614. The reduced contract amount, plus the projected collections will result in a funding increase of appoximately $83,844.04.

On May 29, 2007, the School Board approved the renewal of Contract Number LC814 for a three-year period in the amount of $742,458.

During the 2007/2008 school year, 8,435 certificates were issued to childcare workers.

The original contract amount of $742,458 was included in the divisional operating budget. This amount will be reduced by $125,769.96. This amendment provides the district the potential to generate additional funds, estimated to be $209,614 through delivery of online courses. As this is a multi-year contract, unexpended funds at the end of each fiscal year will roll forward.
