SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS

Approve Renewal Contracts with the State of Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles for Motorcycle Safety Training Program, 2008/2009 (Adult and Community Education)

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

We request approval to renew motorcycle safety training program contracts offered by the district in collaboration with the State of Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles. The renewal contracts for the 2008/2009 school year have been developed to continue the Florida Rider Training Program with assistance and guidance from the Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF). The district has been providing the motorcycle safety training program since 1991.

Classes are offered at Armwood and Chamberlain High Schools through the Adult and Community Education Department. The program has served approximately 9,400 students and offers two classes: MSF Basic RiderCourse and MSF Experienced RiderCourse
