EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
This high-quality professional development is designed to enhance teacher understanding of the reading process, the essential elements of reading and the use of best practices in the classroom. These trainings will impact approximately 1,800 classroom teachers. Trainings will be conducted at Nelson, Carrollwood, and Mango Elementary Schools on June 6-20, 2008, and July 14-18, 2008. Each of the 60 K-5 inservice trainings will be focused on scientifically-based reading research and the essential elements of reading: phonemic awareness, phonics, vocabulary, fluency, and comprehension.
In order to effectively provide the training, permission is requested to add and/or delete trainers as needed, not to exceed the budget of $76,066.
