SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS

Approve Agreements for Technical Services for Child Care Proctors, Learey Technical Center, 2008/2009 (Curriculum and Instruction Division)

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

We request approval of the Agreements for Technical Services for the attached list of proctor test administrators for child care staff.

The Department of Children and Families (DCF) mandates competency testing for child care staff working in public/private child care facilities or home child care centers. DCF contracts for testing services in each of its regions; Hillsborough and Pasco Counties serve as a single region under DCF. Hillsborough County Public Schools is the designated testing provider for this region.

Students must meet a 70 percent competency level in the areas of Child Growth and Development; Child Abuse and Neglect; Health, Safety and Nutrition; Behavior Observation and Screening; Family Child Care Home Rules and Regulations; and Facility Rules and Regulations.

In order to effectively complete the required child care testing, permission is requested to add and/or delete test proctors as needed.

Approximately 12,500 exams will have been administered in this region by the end of the 2007/2008 school year.
