Approve Change Order No. 11 in the Amount of $35,960.54 Extra, Change Order No. 12 in the Net Credit Amount of $42,396.01, and Acceptance of Project for Classrooms for Kids Package 5

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

On September 7, 2004, the Board appointed Atelier AEC, Inc. and Christiano Construction Company, Inc. to provide design and construction management services for classroom additions at Brooker, Temple Terrace, and Yates Elementary Schools, and Burns Middle School. On March 14, 2005, additions at Tampa Palms and Chiles Elementary Schools were added to the package. These additions were necessary to meet class size reduction requirements. The scope of work provided for the following additions: 18 classrooms at Brooker, 16 classrooms at Chiles (increased from 8 in the initial scope), 12 classrooms at Tampa Palms, 14 classrooms at Temple Terrace, 12 classrooms at Yates, and 12 classrooms plus group toilets at Burns. The Board previously approved a Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) for the project, that included the 8 classroom addition at Chiles. When the size of the Chiles addition was increased to 16 classrooms, Chiles was removed from the scope of the GMP for the package. The Board subsequently approved a separate GMP for Chiles on July 12, 2005.

Change Order No. 11 provides for roofing and window revisions at Tampa Palms as mandated by hurricane shelter requirements. Change Order No. 12 provides a credit for the return of unused contingency funds, and costs for sitework revisions.

The architect advises that the referenced project is finally complete in accordance with the plans and specifications and other contract documents and recommends Board acceptance.

These items were included in the District Capital Outlay and funded as follows: $6,572,594 from Classrooms for Kids (Brooker, Burns, Temple Terrace, Yates) and $2,935,406 from Public Education Capital Outlay (PECO) Construction (Chiles, Tampa Palms).
