SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS

Approve Appointment of Architectural Firms for Classroom Additions at Various Schools

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Proposals for architectural services were accepted on April 15, 2008 for classroom additions at Clair Mel, Colson, Ippolito, Jackson, Lewis, Seffner, and Sessums Elementary Schools.

A Public Announcement was issued and a tabulation made of the firms that responded to the legal advertisement. The Professional Services Selection Committee convened on April 18, 2008 to review submittals and develop a short-list of firms. Prospective providers were evaluated in accordance with the "Consultant's Competitive Negotiation Act," "State Requirements for Education Facilities," and School Board policy. On May 2, 2008, the Committee reviewed the short-listed applicants using a rubric and authorized staff to proceed with fee negotiations with the top-ranked firms. Negotiations are complete and Board approval is required for formal appointment of the following firms:

  • Carruthers & Associates Architects P.A. for a fixed fee of $102,000 for Colson, $102,000 for Lewis, $87,000 for Jackson, and $87,000 for Seffner.
  • Woodroffe Corporation Architects for a fixed fee of $102,000 for Clair Mel, $102,000 for Ippolito, and $147,823 for Sessums.
