Approve Cooperative Agreement with The Spring of Tampa Bay, Inc.
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The Spring of Tampa Bay, Inc. provides a variety of services to victims of domestic violence, including a 24-hour emergency shelter for victims of domestic violence and their dependent children who have no other safe place to go. The children who reside at The Spring must receive educational services on site for security reasons. The School Board provides one teacher and one teacher aide, who provide academic instruction for approximately 25 children. The Spring provides the facility.

FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted: Yes)
The Spring provides the facility at no cost to the school district. The other components of the program are financed by FTE funds, which amount to approximately $100,862.00. This item is included in the Part 1 budget for 2008-2009.
EVALUATION
A comprehensive evaluation of the academic program will be completed by June 30, 2009. District and Alternative Education program staff will review academic achievement data, notes and walk-through checklists from site visits, and results of Whole School Effectiveness surveys.
