Approve Revisions to Athletic Guidebook of Procedures-2008/2009 (Curriculum and Instruction Division)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The
Athletic Guidebook of Procedures is reviewed annually by the Athletics Department staff, senior high school principals, and assistant principals for administration to determine if revisions are necessary.
The guidebook has been updated to reflect changes in the following areas:
- Clarification of equipment and supplies for baseball, softball and sports which require mouthpieces
- Adjusting the number of players to be dressed out for Cross County and Flag Football
- Limiting the price of programs to $2.00 without approval of the District Director of Athletics
- Updating the minimum number of participants to constitute a track team to 12
- Directing that an annual inventory of athletic equipment and supplies be kept at the site and available for review by the District Director of Athletics
- Updating information collected on coaching personnel to reflect current Lawson system needs
- Amending all sports practice policies to grant permission to open the facility, with all fees waived, for the express purpose of conducting practice
- Clarification in policies and regulations for track, volleyball, cheerleading, and flag football
The revisions ensure that the district athletic program procedures are consistent with state laws as well as bylaws of the Florida High School Athletic Association.
Following approval by the School Board, the Athletic Guidebook of Procedures will be updated on the district website.

All revisions are covered by the current departmental budget and will require no additional funds. The updated Athletic Guidebook of Procedures will be available for viewing on the district website upon approval by the School Board
