Approve Appointment of Engineering Firm for HVAC Renovation at
Brewster Technical Center

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Proposals for engineering services were accepted on April 15, 2008 for renovation of the heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC) system at Brewster Technical Center.

A Public Announcement was issued and a tabulation made of the firms that responded to the legal advertisement. The Professional Services Selection Committee convened on April 30, 2008 to review submittals and develop a short-list of firms. Prospective providers were evaluated in accordance with the "Consultant's Competitive Negotiation Act," "State Requirements for Education Facilities," and School Board policy. On May 20, 2008, the Committee reviewed the short-listed applicants using a rubric and authorized staff to proceed with fee negotiation with the top-ranked firm. Negotiations are complete and Board approval is required for formal appointment of the following firm:

  • KPI Engineering Inc. for a fixed fee of $205,000.

    The listed fee is in proportion to the stated construction budget and identified scope of work. Subsequent revisions of either the construction budget or scope of work may warrant proportionate adjustment of the fee.

    Provide adequate school facilities for the accomplishment of all District Goals and Critical Success Factors.

    FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted: Yes)

    The project budget is $2,115,080 with funding derived from Public Education Capital Outlay (PECO) Maintenance.
