Approve Schematic Design Phase for Renovation at
Burns Middle School

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

On February 19, 2008, the Board appointed Rowe Architects, Inc. and Batson-Cook Company to provide design and construction management services. The renovation of existing facilities provides for locker refinishing; interior painting; door hardware, toilet accessories, and other miscellaneous handicap accessibility upgrades; roof refurbishment; replacement of acoustical ceilings; replacement of worn carpet with vinyl composition tile (VCT); and heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC) and fire sprinkler system replacements. Project completion is scheduled for July 2010.

Approval of the schematic design phase will allow the architect to proceed with design development documents.

Provide adequate school facilities for the accomplishment of all District Goals and Critical Success Factors.

FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted: Yes)

Construction budget is $9,324,688. The estimate of probable cost is $9,319,299. This item is included in the District Capital Outlay: 2 Mill.
