Information Regarding Purchase of Literacy Smart Centers for Reddick Elementary from Innovative Learning Solutions (Sole Source Provider) (Student Services and Federal Programs)

As required by school board policy, when the amount of a purchase from a sole source provider is $25,000 or more, the board is to be notified. Reddick Elementary is a new school opening in 2008-2009 and will be serving a large English Language Learner (ELL) population. In an effort to ensure instructional resources are available for teachers and students in grades K-5 on the first day, Literacy Smart Centers were purchased in the amount of $25,000 to support reading instruction. Smart Centers will provide supplemental instructional activities to reinforce vocabulary and comprehension skills. Innovative Learning Solutions is a sole source provider for the Smart Center product.

Goal 1 The percentage of students scoring at level 3 or higher on FCAT in Reading will increase a minimum of 5 percentage points.

This purchase was paid using Title I funds in the amount of $25,000.

Pre and post reading assessment data will be analyzed to determine the impact that Literacy Smart Centers had on the reading achievement of students in grades K-5.
