SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS

Approve Procedures for Declaring School Board Real Property As Surplus

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

As part of the School Board's ongoing practice of evaluating and updating procedures, Hillsborough County Public School's ("HCPS") Facilities Division brought forth procedures for declaring School Board real property as surplus at the Board's regular March 13, 2007 meeting. To further improve these procedures, HCPS staff conducted meetings with members of the Site Acquisition & Disposal Oversight Committee. Through these meetings, information was gathered and disseminated to clarify procedures for the School Board to declare its real property surplus and to implement efficient methods for notification and advertising among various government agencies, charter schools and the public.

The HCPS's Facilities Division will continue updating and clarifying standard procedures regarding the site acquisition/due diligence process and will be presenting these to the Board for review and approval.
