Approve Second Amendment to Contract with CTB McGraw-Hill for Item Review and Proofreading of the Text Reader Version of the 2009 FCAT for Students with Disabilities - $8,000 (Curriculum and Instruction Division/Florida Instructional Materials Center for the Visually Impaired FIMC-VI)

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

We request approval of the second amendment to the CTB McGraw-Hill contract for $8,000 to provide item review and proofreading services for Text Reader Version of the 2009 Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test (FCAT) in a contractor/subcontractor relationship through March 31, 2009. Florida Instructional Materials Center for the Visually Impaired (FIMC-VI) will provide the following services:

Funding for this initiative was awarded to CTB McGraw-Hill by the Florida Department of Education. The District has provided specialized services to CTB McGraw-Hill since 2005.

For the past 35 years Hillsborough has served as the fiscal agent for the FIMC-VI through a grant agreement with the Florida Department of Education.

ANNUAL DISTRICT GOAL(S) AND CRITICAL SUCCESS FACTOR(S)

Goal 1 – The percentage of students scoring at Level 3 or higher on FCAT reading will increase a minimum of five percentage points.
Goal 2 – The percentage of students scoring at Level 3 or higher on FCAT mathematics will increase a minimum of five percentage points.
Goal 3 – Student performance on FCAT science will increase a minimum of five percentage points.
Goal 4 - The percentage of students achieving a score of 4.0 or higher on FCAT Writing will increase a minimum of five percentage points.

FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted: Yes)

CTB McGraw-Hill will pay the District $8,000 for services provided and the funds will be included in the divisional special revenue/federal programs budget. There is no additional cost to the District.
