Approve Activities Calendar for Career and Technical Student Organizations, 2008/2009 (Career and Technical Education)

We request approval of the 2008/2009 Activities Calendar for Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSO). This calendar is presented annually during the month of October and includes activities from the Executive Director of each CTSO, District Career and Technical Education Staff, and the Florida Department of Education. This document identifies activities for October 2008 through October 2009. CTSO are co-curricular and are integral to the Career and Technical Education curriculum. Involvement in CTSO activities and competitive events reinforces academic and occupational knowledge, strengthens leadership skills, provides career networking, and improves personal presentation skills. Membership in CTSO rewards practical and academic learning. The business/industry community views our Career and Technical Education programs as a significant source of well prepared employees. Approval of this calendar expedites the procedures for students to participate in CTSO activities, in-county and out-of-county, and allows schools the option to participate.

All Critical Goals and Success Factors

Funds utilized for instructor travel are included in the general operating budget and special revenue grants which provide funds to support teacher expenditure to chaperone students participating in leadership/competitive events.
