Approve Agreement for Technical Services with Keyboard Consultants for FCAT Proofreading Activities, Visually Impaired Grant - $19,616 (Exceptional Student Education, Florida Instructional Materials Center for the Visually Impaired – FIMC-VI)

We request approval of the renewal agreement with Keyboard Consultants to proofread each individual item in the Braille version of the FCAT Released Tests to ensure that the items are transcribed appropriately for visually impaired students.

In collaboration with FIMC-VI, the consultant will proofread the Braille version of the following FCAT Released Tests, Answer Keys and Braille Notes: (2005) Grade 4 Reading and Mathematics, Grade 8 Reading and Mathematics, Grade 10 Reading and Mathematics; (2006) Grade 3 Reading and Mathematics, Grade 7 Reading and Mathematics, Grade 10 Reading and Mathematics; and (2007) Grade 5 Reading and Mathematics, Grade 6 Reading and Mathematics, Grade 8 Science.

Keyboard Consultants has successfully performed these proofreading functions to the satisfaction of Florida Department of Education for the past eight years.

Grant funds of $19,616 are included in the divisional special revenue/federal program budget, Project 1439. The grant is financed by Federal IDEA and State General Revenue funds provided by the Florida Department of Education/Office of Assessment and School Performance as authorized by Section 1008.22, Florida Statutes.
