Recognition of Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSO) and Outstanding Student Members , 2007/2008 (Career and Technical Education)

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

We would like to recognize the 2007/2008 Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSO) and Outstanding Student Members.

CTSOs are co-curricular and an integral part of the Career and Technical Education curriculum. CTSOs provide learning experiences, in and outside the classroom, through which students gain career knowledge, as well as develop attitudes and skills to become productive character-driven employees and citizens. CTSOs provide a wide array of student organization and industry sponsored college scholarship opportunities up to full college scholarships. Students prepare for competitive activities that are relevant to their career preparatory training, their career goals, and postsecondary plans. These competitive events are held at the district, regional, state, and national levels. Competitive and leadership activities challenge students to reach their highest potential in academics, community service, and personal growth. Our members are our future doctors, engineers, architects, corporate leaders, business owners, government leaders, and community leaders.

ANNUAL DISTRICT GOAL(S) AND CRITICAL SUCCESS FACTOR(S)

* Increase promotion rates at all grade levels and the percentage of high school graduates, * Demonstrate consistent and effective teaching methods, * Motivate students to become responsible learners, * Challenge and support all students with an appropriate curriculum

FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted: Yes)

Costs for students to participate in competitions were provided through fundraisers, donations, grant funds, and sponsorships such as PEPSI.
