Recognition of Outreach Assisting Students In School (OASIS) (Student Services and Federal Programs Division)

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The acronym OASIS stands for Outreach Assisting Students in Schools. Since 2001 this non-profit organization of outstanding volunteers works directly with donors and school social workers to supply needy students with school clothing, sweaters, jackets, shoes, school supplies and hygiene items. The commitment of OASIS to the development and implementation of this initiative is commendable.

OASIS is a non-profit, 501-C(3) organization. The collection and sorting of items for students is done by volunteers. The items are distributed by School Social Workers to families with needs. This partnership is very efficient and effective. The partnership allows items to be collected and distributed in a timely manner. The school district provides "closet" space at Tampa Palms, Manhattan and Lockhart.
