SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS

Approve Summer Four-Day Work Week For All Employees

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

As a District we are looking at ways to save money in this time of economic instability. Last summer at the suggestions of employees we initiated a ten-hour, four-day work week. This was done on a voluntary basis to help our employees during these hard economic times. This did not benefit the District’s financial picture because we maintained all our facilities open each day.

For the summer of 2009, beginning the week of June 8, 2009 and ending July 16, 2009 we are recommending a ten-hour, four-day work week where the entire District will shut down, saving in areas such as: Transportation, Utilities, and School Food Service.

ANNUAL DISTRICT GOAL(S) AND CRITICAL SUCCESS FACTOR(S)

* Demonstrate best financial practices

FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted: Yes)

An approximate savings of $1,190,553 $1,844,595. (This amount does not include School Food Service at this time.)
