SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS

Approve Award of Contracts for Direct Exchange (DX) Air Conditioning Equipment Required for Upcoming HVAC Projects at
Multiple Schools

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Engineers were previously appointed or selected from the approved Continuing Services Consultants list to provide design services for heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC) renovation and replacement projects at several schools. To facilitate completion of these projects during the upcoming summer, early acquisition of equipment with long lead times for delivery from the manufacturer is required.

Equipment specifications were developed by the respective engineers, and direct exchange (DX) equipment items were grouped into a single solicitation by District staff. Four (4) bidders responded to the solicitation (bid tabulation attached). The respective engineers have reviewed the proposed equipment for compliance with the requirements of the solicitation. Energy costs associated with the equipment were also evaluated to allow for a life-cycle cost comparison. Award of contracts for the DX equipment to the firms providing equipment with the lowest anticipated life-cycle cost that meets the requirements of the solicitation, Carroll Air Systems, Inc. for six projects and Carrier Corporation for the remaining projects, is therefore recommended.
