Approve Agreement With the City of Plant City to Host the Florida High School Athletic Association Softball Finals State Championship (Athletics Department)

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

We request approval of the Agreement with the City of Plant City to host the Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) Softball Finals State Championship. This event will be held at Plant City Stadium May 11 through May 16, 2009. The district has hosted the State Softball Championships at Plant City Stadium for many years.

This event draws teams from all over the state of Florida. Plant City Stadium is able accommodate the large crowds, media representation from a multitude of cities, FHSAA officials and staff, as well as district personnel needed to run the multi-day event.

FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted: No)

The cost of $6,000 for maintenance and rental fees will be funded by a sponsorship from the Tampa Bay Sports Commission. Additional cost of security and insurance is covered under normal operating budget.
