EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The TOBA 28th Annual Youth Heritage Oratorical Scholarship Contest theme was “As A Young Person, How Do You Address the Trend of Anti-Academic Achievement Among African-American Youth?”. The theme was expertly explored by the participants who gave their well researched thoughts on this controversial topic. As was their prerogative, several students agreed with the theme’s premise while one dissented. Faith Chennault Woodard is an 8th grade honor student at Rodgers Middle School where she serves as the vice president of the student council. She is the Orator of the Year and winner of a $2000 scholarship. Eric Leeks (Middleton High) is the first place winner of a $1000 scholarship; Corey Pujols (Tampa Bay Technical) is the second place winner of a $400 scholarship; Devante Robinson (Hillsborough High) is the third place of a $300 scholarship; and James Eliassaint (Tampa Bay Technical) is the fourth place winner of a $200 scholarship.
