EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

2008/2009 Regional Winner
Sunshine State Scholars Competition

Joshua Giles - Freedom High School

The Sunshine State Scholars Program provides the opportunity for every district in Florida to showcase its excellent student performance in mathematics and science. District representatives first compete in a regional competition. The six regional winners are then invited to participate in the state finals in early March. At each level of competition, students compete in a challenging written examination over the broad knowledge of mathematics, statistics, physics, chemistry, and biology.

This student is one of six who has earned the right to participate in the state finals for the Sunshine State Scholars program in Tallahassee and is the first student from our county that has ever challenged for the state title.
