Recognition of Middle School Student Participation at the State Level Competition of the National Geography Bee (Middle School Education-Curriculum and Instruction Division)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
By winning their school’s Geography Bee and taking a qualifying test, an unprecedented seven Hillsborough County middle school students qualified as part of 100 semifinalists for the state level competition of the National Geography Bee. The following students participated:
- Rohith Ravi, Bartels Middle
- Cameron Kubly, Burns Middle
- Logan Vaughn, Farnell Middle
- Zachary Bess-Lima, Martinez Middle
- Wyatt Whittington, Walker Middle
- Jimmy Rentz, Williams Middle
- Arnel Garcesa, Young Middle
Rohith Ravi, a sixth grader from Bartels Middle School, was the official runner-up of the Florida Geography Bee which was held on April 3, 2009, in Jacksonville, Florida.
