Recognition of Middle School Student Participation at the State Level Competition of the National Geography Bee (Middle School Education-Curriculum and Instruction Division)

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

By winning their school’s Geography Bee and taking a qualifying test, an unprecedented seven Hillsborough County middle school students qualified as part of 100 semifinalists for the state level competition of the National Geography Bee. The following students participated:
  • Rohith Ravi, Bartels Middle
  • Cameron Kubly, Burns Middle
  • Logan Vaughn, Farnell Middle
  • Zachary Bess-Lima, Martinez Middle
  • Wyatt Whittington, Walker Middle
  • Jimmy Rentz, Williams Middle
  • Arnel Garcesa, Young Middle
Rohith Ravi, a sixth grader from Bartels Middle School, was the official runner-up of the Florida Geography Bee which was held on April 3, 2009, in Jacksonville, Florida.
