SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS

Approve Renewal Contract for Full Service Schools with the State of Florida, Department of Health (Student Services and Federal Programs Division)

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

This contract renewal is in effect July 1, 2009 through June 30, 2010. The dollar amount reflects no change in funding since 1994. This contract expands health services, and its purpose is to increase access to health care in high poverty areas. The Full Service School funds provide health services to designated schools (Desoto, Just, Oak Park, Palm River, and Sulphur Springs Elementary Schools and Dowdell Middle School) in our district. This is an annual renewal for flow-through funds from the Hillsborough County Health Department.

FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted: Yes)

$422,773 – Funds are provided by the Legislature from general revenue and Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) federal dollars in a specific line item for Full Service Schools. This contract and the services are based on the availability of funds.

EVALUATION

Annual reports are submitted to the Department of Health. These reports contain data regarding student, parent, and school district employee encounters.
