EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Hillsborough County Public Schools' staff has been informed of an opportunity to purchase two lots located at 503 and 505 South Boulevard Avenue, Tampa. These lots are situated between Gorrie Elementary School and Wilson Middle School on the north side of West DeLeon Street between South Boulevard Avenue on the east and South Edison Avenue on the west. Staff had two independent appraisals performed and the purchase price of $1,525,000 is below the lowest value established for these properties.
Rezoning of the property through the City of Tampa for the proposed use as a parking lot will be initiated by the Seller and will be assigned to the School Board. Costs associated with this rezoning, in an amount not to exceed $1,300, will be reimbursed to the Seller at closing.
Providing adequate parking for the Gorrie Elementary School campus has been an ongoing challenge. With the proposed acquisition, immediate parking needs could be accommodated and future Gorrie Elementary and Wilson Middle Schools' expansion a possibility.
