SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS

Approve Extension of Recommended Titles as Flexibility Instructional Materials for Use in the District's Innovative Instructional Programs (Curriculum and Instruction Division)

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The process for selection of flexibility instructional materials for the district's Innovative Instructional Programs has been completed according to district guidelines. We recommend the extension of PLATO Learning Software for a one-year period. The recommended software will be the primary instructional material utilized in the IMPACT (Individually Motivated Performance Assisted by Computer Technology) lab course, which is available in 26 high schools and in the four Career Centers. PLATO Learning integrates computer-assisted instruction with a flexible learning system to improve instructional effectiveness and enhance student performance. The use of this software, in the IMPACT program and Career Centers, allows students who are over-aged, behind in the acquisition of necessary credits, and/or have low grade point averages to earn their high school diplomas and graduate on time with their academic cohort.

ANNUAL DISTRICT GOAL(S) AND CRITICAL SUCCESS FACTOR(S)
