Approve the Naming of the Football Field at Chamberlain High School

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The Chamberlain High School staff, community members, and Athletic Booster Club have requested that the football field at Chamberlain High School be named Billy Turner Field in honor of former head football coach of Chamberlain High School, Billy Turner. Mr. Turner began his employment with Hillsborough County Public Schools in 1962 as a physical education teacher at Mitchell Elementary School. Mr. Turner was first appointed head football coach in 1967. For the past twenty-eight years Coach Turner held the position of head football coach at Chamberlain High School. His record at Chamberlain High School is 204 wins with 123 losses and his overall record is 254 wins with 152 losses. Mr. Turner is a man that is highly thought of in life and in the community; he was an extraordinary mentor, devoted teacher, and beloved coach. The faculty and Athletic Booster Club would like to celebrate Coach Turner’s tireless dedication to the students in Hillsborough County with this honor.
